Forget the resume, kill on the cover letter:

A great resume will get you not-rejected, a great cover letter will get you hired. That’s the conclusion I’m left with after going through the applications for our junior support programmer position. Most people can make their resume look reasonable which makes it a poor qualifier.

Actually butterflies have a nearly 360 degree range of vision, can see a broader spectrum of color than humans and use wing color in courtship rituals. Technically they not only see their own wings, but their wings are far more vivid and far more important to them than they could ever possibly be to any other species.

Canberra really is beautiful before dawn. Every wet from last night’s rain, gleaming orange in the street lights; the cloud cover taking the usual chill out of the morning; deserted suburban streets; kangaroos hanging out on the bike paths.

And now I’m sitting at my desk, watching the sun gradually rise, turning that cloud cover shades of pink and orange.
